C.N. Wood Co. Inc. joined municipal leaders, public works crews and contractors at the Essex County Highway Association (ECHA) trade and technical training show to display equipment, connect with customers, and provide hands-on training for the municipalities and companies that keep local communities moving.

Held at Danversport Yacht Club in Danvers, Mass., the event was split between an outdoor showcase of equipment, an indoor event space with booths and a separate space for technical training on equipment. At its outdoor space, C.N. Wood highlighted a variety of equipment used for street sweeping, sewer inspection, snow removal, hydro excavation and general municipal maintenance.

“The Essex County Highway Association event is a great opportunity to meet with a lot of our local customers and highlight some of the machines that really work well in this area,” explained Kevin Johnson, Environmental Product Specialist, C.N. Wood. “We appreciate everyone who took the time to swing by our display and check out the equipment, ask some questions, and get to know our team. The ECHA show is an event we look forward to every year.”

RapidView IBAK solutions

When it comes to underground pipeline and sewer inspection, structural analysis and repair, the RapidView IBAK camera truck gives contractors and municipalities a detailed look inside critical infrastructure. During the ECHA show, attendees had the chance to walk through a RapidView IBAK truck and see why its setup has become the first choice for companies and municipalities.

“C.N. Wood has supported RapidView IBAK systems for almost 15 years,” stated Johnson. “The technology has really proven itself, and RapidView IBAK continues to invest in their products. As the market has grown, C.N. Wood recognized the need for a local facility to service the equipment and built a RapidView IBAK-certified repair facility at our North Haven, Connecticut, location.”

That local support matters to customers such as BMC Corp., a Billerica, Massachusetts-based company that cleans stormwater and sewer pipes across eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Owner Rich Corsetti said his company relies on RapidView IBAK camera systems to inspect sewer and drainpipes, perform IDDE (illicit discharge detection and elimination) work, as well as serve engineering firms, cities, towns and public works departments.

“The equipment is great, but the support from C.N. Wood is the main thing to us,” emphasized Corsetti. “C.N. Wood is close by, and now they have their own repair facility. If it’s something that we can’t fix, we send it right over to them, and they have a quick turnaround, usually within a week.”

Training was another key part of the day. In addition to displaying equipment outside, C.N. Wood hosted a Pelican sweeper training seminar led by Mike Kidd, giving operators and municipal teams a chance to learn more about the equipment and ask questions.

“We like to train as much as possible,” shared Johnson. “It’s a key component to our customers using the equipment efficiently, safely and getting the best out of the product. Mike was able to share a lot of useful information with our Pelican sweeper customers that they can take back to the local municipalities and implement.”

The show also offered a chance to evaluate equipment that can serve multiple roles. Scott Bernard, General Foreman for the town of Andover, Mass., said his department has worked with C.N. Wood for years and uses equipment ranging from Komatsu wheel loaders and Pelican sweepers to Trackless machines for snow plowing, mowing or brush work on sidewalks and bike lanes.

“We’ve been coming to the ECHA show for years and always stop by the C.N. Wood booth,” said Bernard. “It’s a great opportunity to see the new equipment they have, talk to the reps and see what might fit our needs.”

Bernard continued, “While we had purchased some other equipment from C.N. Wood, we had never bought a Trackless machine before. After seeing it at several shows and talking with the team at C.N. Wood, we added one to our fleet about three years ago. The machine is awesome, and the support C.N. Wood provides on all their equipment keeps us coming back.”

Aaron Cilluffo, Department of Public Works Director for the town of Rockport, Mass., noted that his department has purchased a Vactor, Pelican sweeper, Trackless machine and Komatsu wheel loader from C.N. Wood in recent years. He said the distributor’s service and long-term relationships are especially important when municipal crews need to keep work on schedule.

“C.N. Wood has always been with us and ready to help,” commented Cilluffo. “At the end of the day, two of the most important factors when adding equipment are reliability and support. On top of that, you want the relationships you can depend on. C.N. Wood has delivered all of that and more for us.”
